Project Knowledge Migration

Move project knowledge into a new research folder.

QiyanAgent stores Main Agent and specialist-Agent conversations, memory, Skills, configuration, and the local database in the project's .agents folder. To reuse old context, migrate the entire .agents folder only after confirming that the old and new projects have the same research scope.

Project knowledge migration centers on the .agents folder. The illustration only shows workspace structure; back up and remove sensitive configuration before migrating.

The callout preserves the legacy project structure as a migration reference; use the project tree shown by the V3.5 client as the source of truth.

When to Use It

  • The new project continues the old project's topic and needs its Main Agent and specialist conversations, memory, or Skills.
  • Move organized Main Agent or specialist-Agent conversations, memory, and Skills from the old project into another working directory.
  • When migrating the local DuckDB or knowledge graph cache, also inspect the db and kg folders. Do not distribute sensitive configuration such as remote database connections in public archives.

Steps

  1. Close QiyanAgent first and make sure no Agent task is running in either the old or new project.
  2. Find the .agents folder in the old project. It typically contains Main Agent conversations and Skills, plus each profile's subagents, db, and kg folders.
  3. Copy the entire .agents folder into the new project folder. If the new project already has .agents, back it up before replacing it.
  4. Open QiyanAgent again, click “Open Project”, and choose the new project folder.
  5. Check the project files on the left, each specialist workspace, Settings → Skills, and conversation history to confirm that the old project knowledge migrated.

Acceptance Checks

After migration, old conversations, memory, and capability packages should be visible. Before starting a new task, confirm that the context applies to the current research question. If it may contain sensitive information or irrelevant memory, back it up and clean it before use.
